Kinda bummed out as I was looking forward to playing the new Borderlands 2 DLC on Shield this weekend, but I'd rather they get it done right than get it done sooner.

I agree I have been looking forward to this, however I am glad they are taking the time for good QA. It should be an excellent piece of hardware, if they are willing to take the hard road and delay it, that or it was catastrophic!

So they only knew about this THE DAY BEFORE LAUNCH?

    Yeah, right.

Makes you wonder what inventory size they had build up for launch

Good one nVidia. It's good to see a company try to fix a known hardware issue before launch rather than not giving a frak and releasing their product like a certain games console producing software company.

Yeah, I think it's awesome they're willing to delay to fix whatever.
  • mayankleoboy1 - Wednesday, June 26, 2013 - link

Heh, not surprising. Anybody wants to bet that the main issue is the SoC itself, and not the " third-party mechanical component" ?
  • varad - Thursday, June 27, 2013 - link

So you're trolling here because they stopped letting you vent on semiaccurate?
  • mayankleoboy1 - Thursday, June 27, 2013 - link

    eh?

"Heh, not surprising. Anybody wants to bet that the main issue is the SoC itself, and not the " third-party mechanical component" ?"

Smells like troll unless you have links to prove your theory.

A SOC issue would delay the product 6 months, not 2 weeks/one month.
  • Flunk - Friday, July 12, 2013 - link

No, because a problem with the SoC would take MONTHS to fix. They would need to do a respin in the least.

They discovered the heatsink was not huge enough? Or was the fan to small?
  • Maxwell_88 - Thursday, June 27, 2013 - link

There is no fan in Shield
  • UssyK - Thursday, June 27, 2013 - link

There is actually. The intake is under the 'Shield' logo.
  • pancakes - Friday, June 28, 2013 - link

It does actually have active cooling

i'd guess joysticks fouling up or wearing out excessively fast.

    kinda like the n64 controller.

If this was a Microsoft product, they would ship it.
