The problem with this is that everyone sourced PC World. I seriously doubt that NVIDIA would make such an announcement to one outlet who's target audience isn't PC gamers.
That and it was reported by Brad Chacos. I dunno but he seemed kind of sensationalist when I ran into his articles at another website.
nah PC PER covered it and even asked nvidia PR about it.. it was confirmed to be a requirement hence all the giveaways and prizes to smooth over gamers feelings about it
Can't wait until their next actual bug fixing update. I'd like to be able to use their performance boosts without having to wait for my computer locking up multiple times if I tab out of a game to type a sentence reply on skype.
They've been releasing Game Ready only drivers for quite a while now... Are they really holding off with the bigger fixes (for how much longer??) or they just roll them in quietly?
They've been slowly adding new features as part of their Game Ready drivers. Checking release highlights for the past year of Game Ready drivers lists the following: - support for the latest OpenGL ARB extensions as well as OpenGL ES 3.2 - updated features and functionality for the GameWorks VR software development kit - tweaks, bug fixes, and optimizations for Windows 10 - features and benefits based around G-SYNC technology and Dynamic Super Resolution - support for Maxwell’s new Multi-Frame Sampled Anti-Aliasing (MFAA) mode
It makes me really wonder how much of a change is adding a profile for a game or two... Imho it could be done by some form of plug-in, having downloads in size of hundreds kilobytes instead of hundreds megabytes. Ofc functionality changes/bugfixes would still require new driver, but it shouldn't be necessary to DL & reinstall graphic driver so often.
